We collect the minimum we need to make Strive work — your account, your posts, your circles. We don't sell your data. We don't run an ad business. The whole point of Strive is to not be the kind of social network that monetizes attention, so the rest of this page is mostly the legal version of that.
You can delete your account at any time from inside the app (Settings → Delete account), and your data is removed within 30 days. To request a copy of your data, email privacy@joinstrive.app — we respond within 30 days. (A self-service in-app export is on the roadmap.)
Strive is operated by Strive Social, Inc., a Delaware C Corporation. You can reach us at hello@joinstrive.app.
For privacy-specific requests (export, deletion, correction), email privacy@joinstrive.app and we'll respond within 30 days — usually within 7.
02What we collect, and why
We collect three buckets of data:
- Account data. Email, username, password (hashed), display name, date of birth (used only to confirm you're 16+), and optional profile photo. Used to sign you in and let other people recognize you.
- Content you create. Goals, posts, captions, photos, comments, applauds, circles you join or create. This is the product — without it there's nothing to render.
- Operational data. Device type, app version, crash logs, and basic diagnostic events so we can fix bugs and understand what's slow.
We do not collect precise location, your contacts, photo library access (beyond images you explicitly attach), or your activity on other apps and websites.
Narrow, boring uses:
- Render your feed, your goals, your circles.
- Send the notifications you opt into (and only those).
- Keep the app working — debugging, performance, abuse prevention.
- Reply when you contact support.
We never use your content to train recommendation models for other people's feeds, to sell to advertisers, or to push you toward posting more than you want to. There is no engagement target. There is no streak counter pressuring you back.
Every post picks its audience when you post it:
- Public. Visible to anyone with a Strive account.
- Followers. Visible only to people who follow you.
- Circle. Visible only to members of one specific circle.
If your account is set to private, only approved followers can see your posts and your follower list. Your profile is yours: you choose what to share.
05Service providers we use
We use a small set of vendors to run Strive. Each one only sees the data it needs to do its job, and is bound by a data-processing agreement.
- Supabase — database, authentication, file storage.
- Vercel — hosting for joinstrive.app.
- Sentry — crash and error reporting (no message content sent).
- Resend — transactional email (password reset, security alerts).
- Expo / EAS — over-the-air app updates and push delivery.
No matter where you live, you can:
- Access a copy of your data — email privacy@joinstrive.app and we'll send you an archive within 30 days. A self-service in-app export is on the roadmap.
- Correct anything inaccurate — most fields are editable in-app.
- Delete your account — Settings → Delete account.
- Withdraw consent for optional things (push notifications, marketing email).
If you're in the EU/UK, you have additional rights under the GDPR — including data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. If you're in California, you have rights under the CCPA/CPRA. Email privacy@joinstrive.app to exercise any of these.
All traffic is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+). Passwords are hashed. Database backups are encrypted at rest. We run least-privilege access for our team. No system is perfect, but we treat security as part of the product.
If we ever experience a breach affecting your data, we'll notify you without undue delay once we've confirmed the scope, and notify regulators on the legally required timelines (72 hours for GDPR supervisory authorities, where it applies).
Strive is for users 16 and older. The app enforces this with a birthday check at signup and won't create accounts for people under 16. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you're a parent and believe your child has signed up, email privacy@joinstrive.app and we'll delete the account promptly. (A parental-consent flow for ages 13–15 is on the roadmap but not live at launch.)
When this policy changes meaningfully, we'll email you and surface a banner in the app at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Minor edits (typos, clarifications) take effect when posted.
